Never look directly at the Sun during partial eclipse phases without proper solar viewing protection. Use eclipse glasses or handheld solar viewers that comply with ISO 12312-2. Ordinary sunglasses are not sufficient.
Do not look at the Sun through a camera, telescope, binoculars or other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses; those devices require appropriate front-mounted solar filters.
Only during the brief total phase, and only for observers actually inside the path of totality, can the Sun be viewed without eclipse glasses. Put protection back on as soon as bright sunlight reappears.
